Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (or air fryer to 350°F). Whisk melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon together in a bowl.
  2. Slice off the tops of the apples and hollow them out, leaving bottoms intact. Make thin crosswise slices down the sides without cutting through the bottom.
  3. Fill each hollowed apple with two chewy caramel squares. Coat the outside of each apple with the butter-sugar mixture.
  4. Arrange the apples in a greased baking dish. Drizzle any remaining butter-sugar mixture on top. Bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Check apples for tenderness after 30 minutes (20 in air fryer). If needed, bake an additional 5 minutes. They should be soft yet hold shape.
  6. Once golden and fragrant, let the apples cool slightly. Serve warm with ice cream and caramel sauce.
