Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Zip-top bag

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, coarse salt, onion powder, ground mustard, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Stir the mixture well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  2. Take your country-style ribs and place them into a large zip-top bag. Add the prepared rub to the bag, then seal it tightly. Shake the bag vigorously until the ribs are evenly coated. Let them sit for about 1 hour to absorb flavors.
  3. Spray the bottom of your slow cooker with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Layer the sliced onions across the bottom of the cooker. Place your seasoned ribs on top of the onions.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke. Pour this sauce evenly over the ribs in the slow cooker.
  5. Set your slow cooker to low and let the ribs cook for 4-6 hours. Check for doneness at the 4-hour mark.
  6. Once the ribs are tender, remove the lid and drizzle some of the cooking liquid over the ribs. Serve warm with your favorite sides.
