Step-by-Step Instructions

  3. In a large bowl, combine the sourdough discard, granulated sugar, melted unsalted butter, and egg. Mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until a soft dough forms.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle roughly ½ inch thick and cut into long strips.
  6. Twist each strip and shape it into spirals.
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place twisted shapes onto it with space between each.
  8. Brush the tops with an egg wash made from a beaten egg and a splash of water.
  9. Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
