Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes until well combined. Place the flank steak into the bowl, ensuring it's fully coated with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. While the steak marinates, cook rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and keep it warm.
  3. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over high heat; add a splash of oil to prevent sticking. Once the pan is hot, carefully place the marinated flank steak on it. Sear the steak for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side until a rich caramelized crust forms.
  4. Once cooked, transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes. After resting, slice the steak thinly against the grain.
  5. Start layering your Korean BBQ Steak Bowls by placing rice at the bottom of each bowl. Arrange the sliced steak on top, followed by kimchi, cucumber, carrots, and avocado.
  6. Sprinkle green onions over the top and then add sesame seeds and fresh cilantro. Serve immediately.
