Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of oil, then toss in the minced garlic, sautéing it for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not brown.
- Next, add the lean ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart and cook for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and no longer pink.
- Once the beef is browned, stir in the soy sauce, fish sauce, and brown sugar. Include chili flakes if you like a kick! Let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and fold in the chopped Thai basil and sliced scallions. Let this delicious mixture cool down before assembling.
- In a shallow dish, warm some water. Dip a rice paper wrapper for 5-8 seconds until pliable. Lay it on a clean, damp surface.
- Place a portion of the beef filling onto the center of the rice paper wrapper. Add any optional herbs or veggies.
- Tightly fold the bottom edge over the filling, tuck in the sides and roll it upwards like a burrito.
- Carefully cut into bite-sized pieces and serve alongside your favorite dipping sauce.
