  • 1 cup Fresh or Frozen Blackberries Can substitute with raspberries or blueberries.
  • 5 leaves Fresh Sage Leaves If using dried sage, reduce amount.
  • 1/2 cup Juice of Lemon Can substitute with lime juice.
For Sweetening
  • 1/4 cup Maple Syrup Honey can be used too.
To Serve
  • ice Ice Cubes Consider using frozen blackberries for flavor.

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Bring 1 cup of filtered water to a gentle simmer and steep a handful of fresh sage leaves for 5 minutes.
  2. Add 1 cup of blackberries to the sage water and gently mash them to release their juices.
  3. Strain the mixture to discard the solids, then stir in sweetener while warm and add 1 cup of cold water and lemon juice.
  4. Chill in a pitcher for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  5. Serve over ice in glasses, filling each to the brim.
  6. Garnish with blackberries, sage leaves, or a lemon slice before serving.
