Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a stand mixer, combine warm water, sugar, and instant dry yeast. Let it foam for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted unsalted butter, salt, and all-purpose flour. Mix on low speed for 6-8 minutes until smooth.
  3. Shape the dough into a ball, place in an oiled bowl, cover and let rise for about 1 hour.
  4. Punch down the dough, divide into 8 pieces, and roll each into logs.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F. Boil water, add baking soda gradually, then boil each log for 20-30 seconds.
  6. Place boiled buns on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with egg yolk, and sprinkle with sea salt.
  7. Bake for 14-16 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
