Step-by-Step Instructions for Marry Me Shrimp Pasta
- Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water for about 8-10 minutes until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
- Season shrimp with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Melt 2 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat and sauté shrimp for 4-6 minutes until opaque. Keep warm.
- In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp butter, then onion. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until translucent. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for 30-60 seconds.
- Sprinkle flour into the skillet to form a roux, cooking for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in broth, then stir in sun-dried tomatoes and tomato paste. Simmer until thick.
- Add heavy cream and milk to the sauce, stirring gently. Add Parmesan and mix until melted, then fold in spinach and let wilt for 2-3 minutes.
- Toss cooked pasta and reserved pasta water into the skillet. Add sautéed shrimp back, mix until warmed through. Serve garnished with extra Parmesan and fresh basil.
