- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line an 8x8-inch metal pan with parchment paper.
- Combine granulated sugar, eggs, and egg yolk in a bowl. Beat with a hand mixer for 3–5 minutes until pale yellow and thick.
- Stir in the vanilla extract gently until well combined.
- Sift together flour and cocoa powder, then fold into the batter until just a few streaks of dry ingredients remain.
- Pour in the melted butter and stir gently until combined.
- Fold in walnuts and hand-chopped chocolate.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25–35 minutes.
