Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch square baking pan with foil and grease it lightly.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt together the semi-sweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  3. Whisk in the granulated sugar until combined, then add eggs one at a time, mixing until the batter is shiny and smooth.
  4. Sift together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt, and then fold them into the chocolate mixture along with food coloring and vanilla.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 44–48 minutes and check for doneness.
  6. Cool the brownies completely on a wire rack in the pan for about 2 hours.
  7. In a mixing bowl, beat together softened cream cheese and butter until smooth, then add powdered sugar and salt, mixing until light and fluffy.
  8. Once cooled, remove the brownies from the pan and spread the cream cheese frosting evenly on top.
  9. Slice into 16 squares and serve chilled or at room temperature.
