Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together 1 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy. In another bowl, whisk 2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture.
  3. Transfer the crust mixture into the baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for about 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Prepare the apple filling by peeling and slicing about 6 cups of apples. Mix with 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  5. In another bowl, combine 1 cup of oats, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of flour, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Cut in 1/2 cup of cold butter until crumbly.
  6. Spread the apple filling over the baked crust, then sprinkle the streusel topping generously over the apples.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely in the dish before cutting into squares.
