Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Brown 1 pound of ground beef or turkey in a large skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add 1 small chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika. Season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Butter one side of each of the 4 thick-cut bread slices. Arrange them buttered side down on a baking sheet.
  6. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice of bread. Top with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley after removing from the oven. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
