Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish liberally with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Arrange thick slices of brioche or challah in the greased baking dish, ensuring even coverage.
  3. In a separate bowl, tear phyllo pastry into small pieces and toss them in melted unsalted butter.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together whole milk, eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until frothy.
  5. Sprinkle chopped walnuts and pistachios evenly over the top.
  6. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, freshly squeezed orange juice, zest, and spices.
  7. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30–35 minutes.
  8. Remove the dish from the oven and let rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
